code 52

im getting a code 52 on my 3.0. I just swapped out blown engine for a good 3.0. I put a new timing belt on it before the install. I had to change out wire harness as well. The old harness knock sensor had a single black wire shielded with outer wire mesh looking wire kind of like a coax cable. The new harness has two seperate wires a brown and a black. I was told to hook the black to black and brown to mesh.I did that put all together and start it runs good at idle but give it gas and i get a code 52. I was carefull on putting on timing belt to keep in time if but if moved would that cause a code 52? dont know where to start look at timing or knock sensor

No. Code 52 has nothing to do with ignition timing (and certainly nothing to do with valve timing). Code 52 means that the ECU "hasn't heard from" the knock sensor in a few seconds. It NEVER means "the engine is knocking." (Indeed, the reason you worry about code 52 is that the ECU dramatically retards the timing to be sure the engine is NOT knocking, given that it can't tell for sure once it has lost track of the sensor.)

I'm not following that. Did you replace the harness all the way from the engine back to the ECU? Did you replace the pigtail from the harness (at the valve cover) to the knock sensor? Did all of these new pieces come with the correct connectors, or were hooking up connectors from plain wire? (For what it's worth, my schematics show that the ECU-side of the knock sensor wire has a black signal wire and a brown wire (inside the shield) to connect to the shield of the pigtail.)

I got a good running 3.0 low millage out of a 1989 truck.I put it in my 94 truck but all the wiring to computer was wrong connectors to ecu. So i decided to pull all wiring harness off the blown 94 and put on the 89. The knock sensor was good on 89 so did not take off lower intake to replace it. But did take off upper intake to replace harness and injectors The wire to the 89 knock sensor was the single blackwire with shielding and the 94 had two wires one brown one black i hooked the black to black and brown to shielded .
