Hey all,

I have a 93 yota with 22re & 4wd 170k

Recently my clutch started slipping, tore everything apart to find out the flywheel was messed up and was wearing a grove into the clutch causing it to slip.

I replaced the rear main seal, flywheel, pilot bearing, clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing. Truck starts up and runs good but you can't put the tranny into and gear with the engine running.

Checked that the slave cylinder is operational and the pushrod extends out as it should when the pedal is depressed. If you start the truck in gear with the clutch pressed all the way in and let off the brake you will be in gear and start to move.

Obviously the clutch does not disengage when the pedal is depressed so something went wrong with the install my question is what is the most likely mistake that I made?

Could I have simply just installed the throwout bearing backwards or something? Any and all ideas welcome.

Tear it back down and look, did you take pictures when you did the work? I haven't done a 4 cylinder but I'm not sure how people install the throw out bearing backwards.

I know I have to tear it all down again not sure if I installed the throwout bearing wrong, no pics I was just looking for advice as to what potential things I should be looking for like is there anything else that might be causing this problem?

In this day one must check all the parts side by side with the ones coming out.

Two things wrong Clutch release bearing or you knocked it out of the fork installing the trans.

I have heard of the disc being put in backwards. Not sure what it would do though.

I think you're right. Hopefully with the bearing in there wrong it didnt mess up the pressure plate. Guess I will find out next weekend.

It can`t it will not in touch it if it is the wrong one.

If it got knocked out of the fork it won`t move.

That is why it will not go in gear .

It might be possible the disc or clutch plate is wrong.

sounds like throwout bearing is in backwards

Im almost sure that you intalled the disc backwards. Theres about a half inch difference from one side of the disc to the other.

Before you tear the clutch apart, do a quick check to rule out:
