clutch problem? Or idiot problem?

Ok so i have a 86 pickup 22re efi. Just put a new clutch, prssure plate, flywheel and bearings last weekend. After getting it back together i relized i didnt check on what way i put the clutch in. I was able to start the truck dont need the clutch to start it. I tryed shifting through gears and was not able to reverse jusr grinding. We then bled the clutch system and tryed again. This time i was able to jam it into first and second but still no reverse and not easy shifting. The next day i got in and pumped the clutch pedal like 20 times started it up and got it shift into first and drove down the street shifted to second and got reverse. Now my question is does that seem like i got the clutch in the right direction? Ok second part, when i parked my truck after driving up the block i noticed some fuel leaking from the filter. I replaced the filter and tryed to start the truck up. When i try and start the truck now all i get is the starter wineing. Possible out of fuel? truck was low when i started working. I didn't hear the pump when i put the key in the run position. Was going to try pump bypass today when i get home. Any ideas would help.

after I rebuilt my engine and put in a new clutch, I had the grinding in 1st and reverse as well. I had to adjust the actuating rod on the clutch pedal in the direction to push the cyl in more.

it looked like the rod is all the way out from the pedal was thinking about lowering the pedal, i also looked at the clutch bracket people talk about but it didnt seem broke when i press it. Pedal feels like its got a fair a mount of play before i feel any pressure.

since that rod is adjusted all the way, maybe by putting in the new clutch caused the cyl to go bad.

Possible, since you know you have to put fuel in it anyway, why not just add some fuel and try.

k got gas in the truck now. Forgot what conector is for the fuel pump. But i turned the key on off a few times. Just get a high pitch starter noise. Could the starter just be spinning and not engage the flywheel?
