Clunking when pressing the gas while driving?????
So I put a new tps on my 88 4runner and since then when ever I'm driving and let off the gas, say in 3rd gear then get back on it, the whole truck like shifts and it makes a clunking sound.... I am lost as to what caused this. It wasn't doing this before I changed the TPS, I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!

First thing that would come to my mind is Universal Joints? A ball joint maybe? Not sure really. Do the best you can to isolate the problem and report back with further information. Sounds interesting.

Yeah I actually figured it out, I went back and did some adjustments on the TPS and it works fine now, I guess the tps regulates the transmission speed too? Idk for sure tho.

sounds like it could be u-joints or a problem within the driveline. but since you just put the tps in sounds like it could be a minor glitch or something going on with the computers/sensors.
the best tool you can have to decipher wether its computer or driveline related would be a tachometer. (please tell me you have an sr5 cluster)
clunk+drop in rpm means problems somehwere related to engine
clunk+no drop in rpm means engine is running fine, and the problem must be elsewhere

Yeah I will, the idle was bouncing a lot so I took the throttle body off and cleared the coolant lines and that seemed to solve that problem then just made some slight adjustments to the TPS and all is good, now I have to figure out if my valve cover gasket is leaking, oil pan gasket, or the rear main seal.
