clunk and grind.
i was under my brothers '86 4runner today because he told me he heard a bad cluck and grind noise after i returned it to him (i was doing a tune up and point inspection). its kinda weird, i drove it for 2weeks including taking it out to truckheaven for the TDS weekend, and no noise.
so i take it around the block, nothing, in foreword or reverse. then he told me he only heard it wile coasting. i shut off the motor and let it roll down a hill. sure enough, a noticeable grind and clunk was present. it only happens when coasting, considerably worse while rolling backwards.
funny though, it doesn't do it when in 4WD. i cant tell where its coming from.
any ideas, after wrenching on this thing for 2weeks im kinda tired of it. and a major set back will be very disappointing consedering my brother just got hes license and can drive again.
give me some things to check first. i guess i could just do it myself but i figured if i posted the problem here it would leave a usefull post for future reference.
