Unhappy Check Engine Light blinks 5 times then 11

I have been experiencing a blinking check engine light on my 86 4runner, manual trans, 22re. It blinks five times, pauses then eleven times. It happens at a steady rpm at freeway speed, or when slowing from speed when in gear. I had chased an oil leak and found my distributor o-ring leaking, which hasn't been changed yet. I replaced the pcv valve recently and the dipstick. I am also experiencing occasionally that the engine surges when I am stopped in idle. when I take my foot off the brake it stops surging. Seems to me like a vacuum leak. Ideas?

the surge is from the idle being too high. the codes are 5 and 11. 5 is ur o2 sensor. 11 is your switch signal. what switch i have no idea. ihope this helps.

"Switch signal" is one of (IIRC) either: TPS IDL/E2 contacts open when jumper inserted (suggests the throttle is open / not fully closed), clutch safety switch on when jumper inserted (someone was pressing the clutch) or a/c is on when jumper inserted.
Clear the codes by disconnecting the EFI fuse or battery for a minute or two, then make sure the a/c is off, start the truck, make sure the trans is in park (or neutral) or no one is stepping on the clutch pedal... then put the jumper in.

As a follow up: Turns out that shortly thereafter I developed a gnarly, intermittent oil leak under the hood, sometimes all over the hood, centered above the dipstick tube. My compression was so bad that I was getting blowby into the crankcase and effing everything up. Oil geysers out the dipstick were the most obvious sign...... Well, that explains the legion of codes flying off the dash. Oregon Engine Rebuilders sold me a great long block for less than if I did everything properly myself. Now no codes!
