Hey Guys/Girls, i was wondering if someone had some advice for me on a problem i'm having, i have a 1991 Toyota Pickup 4x4, manual Tranny, the motor blew a head gasket and i ordered a new long block from a company called attarco, i swapped all my parts onto the long block and installed it back into my Rig this past Friday, i went over the wires to ensure i have them all plugged back into the correct spots as wella s the vaccum hoses which some i am not 100% are in the correct spots because there are so many although i did go through it with my Chiltons Book and i'm pretty sure i have them all hooked up correctly, down near the started there is one wire plug that i have hanging its a grey wire that is not currently plugged into anything as i could not find anything to plug it into, (maybe i'm not looking hard enough) i did look on my 87 4runner with the 22re engine as well and it has the same wire hanging not sure if that means anything, but my question is. After swapping the motor and getting everything back in and plugged in my check engine light comes on about 2 - 5 minutes after engine start up only when i'm drivng/moving in the truck. not too sure why, was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. also there is a ticking, almost sound of an exhaust leak when i step on the gas that speeds up with the speed of the engine, only when i give it gas tho not at an idle or low amount of gas, that sound was there before the engine swap and still is so i'm not too sure on that part, but if anyone has any advice please feel free, thank you

Disconnect the battery for a bit , then drive it again if it still comes on you would have to pull codes ,when you do, post them up and then lets see what you have .

Sounds like the knock sensor line and you can find it right behind the oil filter on the block.

Pull your codes and if you get a 52 it's the knock sensor I have a very similar issue but mine is the plug is melted and the pin will not seat all the way to make contact and kill the check engine light now I need to find the line and plug end I believe you are describing.

My knock sensor plug is white , but I guess they could also be gray.

between the oil filter and fuel filter.

my 93 is gray well at least the plug part , the wire is covered in shrink wrap but I do believe if he does the codes check and it comes up 52 it would most likely be the knock sensor plug

right on i'll check it out in the morning and report back to let you know what i find, i do remember when i did do the whole conversion there was something i screwed into the block near the oil filter and fuel filter that i had no idea what it was nor did my dad and i never thought that that wire plugged into that, but that may be it, it screwed right into the block in that area, i'll check it in the morning. thank you

Awesome thank you guys so much I got plugged it in this morning and no more check engine light now I can mess around with the loft kit that just came in the mail today. Thanks again
