i have one 02 cencer and the air fuel gauge spliced into it and its been in there for 2 years now never had a problem with it and i just checked it out and it works just fine
maybe its to egr??? if so how do i unplug it and where just to make sure does the egr block off cause a check engine light?
this is the first time its ever been on in the 3 years ive had the truck!!!

well it's no wonder you'd get a 5 for an O2 fault if you've got a gauge piggybacked off the one sensor and the gauge has a poor ground. remember electricity takes the shortest path to ground right? so the gauge is going to attempt to ground however it can and that O2 lead back to the ECU is a possible path in parallel with the 'bad' ground of the gauge itself.
Combine the O2 sensor signal with the voltage from the gauge that is trying to find ground and it will throw the O2 reading to the ECU off and trip the CEL.
Make sense?

since you fixed the ground it is still doing it, that's what you're saying?
if so, put a 1N4001 diode between the gauge and the O2 sensor with the end nearest the stripe around the body of the diode wired towards the gauge and the other end wired to the tap to the O2 sensor

ah fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks man and yes it was the o2 gauge trying to ground though the ecu cause now that it has a good ground its working right and no goofy start up and no more check engine lights wow my truck is so smart that it pops the check engine light when my air fuel gauge is'nt working right ha ha
