charging system doesnt work

after replacing a fuse i started having some idle problems, yesterday the car wouldnt start so i replaced the battery and wa-la only getting 11.5 volts of power so i assume its the alternator too

searching on here i found
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f131/alterna...citing-131679/
his problem is that the alt works fine but the battery light doesnt come on when he turns on the accessories- which means the charging system isnt working
MY BATTERY LIGHT DOESNT COME ON EITHER
he took it to a mechanic to fix it and never gives a definitive answer so maybe someone else can help me (i also have a 22re he had a 3.0)

they wanted 150 at autozone, where did you find em for 100 lol

im getting a free one since it was jsut replaced less than a year ago (by the guy who i bought the truck from) but i wouldnt be able to get it for about a week and i need to make it to and from school...

also would be nice to just fix the system and not have a faulty alternator

EDIT: lol ill try the battery thing too lol, cant hurt

Lol...NOT the positive cable. That will shut everything off. Pull the NEG cable to remove the battery from the closed circuit to see if the alternator can handle the entire load.

However, this is not a completely accurate test. For instance, my alternator is only putting out 11-12v right now. When I pull the negative cable, the engine still runs, etc., because the alternator IS putting out 11-12v. BUT, it needs to push 13.7-14.4v to properly charge the battery.

problem fixed- if anyone else has this problem i just bend an S curve into the fuse so it would make a better connection- works great, 14V, battery light comes on, truck runs alot better

try jumping 12v to the 7.5 fuse in the fuse box by the battery .If the truck starts to charge it is the idiot light bulb.it uses the bulb as an exciter to get alt to charge. the truck needs to be running of course. IT should charge untill you shut it off.
