Catalytic Converter

Has anyone used one of these cheaper Cats (around the $60-$70 range).
Looking to replace mine for a newer high flow cat. Been looking at Summit Racings site at the Dynomax and Magnaflow.

Where are you located?

I live in California and got a magnaflow at an exhaust shop since mine was hallowed out, didn't have a problem with smog either.

Got a new magnaflow cat, tubing and muffler. Installed for around 300 bucks.

I'm located in Vancouver WA and just blocked off my EGR and upgraded my throttle body and plenum to a 1992 version on my 85 4Runner with a 22RE. I have one more emmisions test to go through then I'm done having to test. What cat did you guys end up with?

Thanks
Bryon

I'm using a cheap $60 Carsound (magnaflow) cat, but we don't have any emissions testing here, yet anyway. We don't even have safety inspection stickers anymore here.

Is there a preference between the Dynomax or Magnaflow?

Looking at Summit Racing site theres 4 different bolt on direct fit cats. The only difference I see is the overall length and the price is from $85-$105. Is the longer cats going to burn more crap out of the exhaust?

What state are you in because if it is CA you have to have a fancy ARB approved cat with EO number as of 1/1/2009.

I would think that a "bolt on" replacement would have to be about the same lenght as the stock cat since it bolts into the middle of the exhaust system. Mine was just a universal weld-on type.

Looking at it a little closer the other two had 02 sensor hook up. Theres two that are the same except one is 12.50 inches long and the other is 17.625. I'm putting new exhaust from the down tube back so I was just wondering if the longer cat would be better?

Hope I can help you dude. I have the Magnaflow Catalytic Converter 93170, I purchased it direct here. Magnaflow Catalytic Converter 93170, I have no comlaints with this cat I passed emissions and got not engine code errors so Im happy. You would not believe what the dealer wanted to charge me for this thing. Definately buy online and put it on your self its way cheaper.
