Oh yes, the infamous rot! Mine has it bad. Cheapest thing you can do to the frame is just scrap the loose stuff away and put the undercoating to it. For body parts, if you like your rig and plan to keep it forever, get replacement fenders and paint to match. Rear wheel wells, you are on your own.... but you must cut all the cancer out before bondo!!

depends on how you want it to look. what I did... clean.. blow gun air dry.. spray black "rubberized rockerguard" on the areas.. and thats that. rust stops, truck has stupid ugly looking black spots over it. you really dont win, but thr win comes later when the rust doesnt spread anymore

Howzit!
"Catch um now before it gets worse" is what i was told.

if you have some autobody & welding experience,
fix um yourself!
Don't be like me. i waited until my truck developed a couple bad rust pukas at the corners.
i finally got off my lazy ass & used a die grinder with a cut off wheel & cut out the rusted areas. i then had new pieces made & spot welded them on.
hammer, grind & body fill after. i use POR paint on the inside..

I had a "pulse current corrosion protection" box installed back in 99 in the wifeys 4-runner. it suppose to help stop rust from occuring & it seems to be working on the runner. i think its called "pro coat" box & only the dealership sells them but they're kind of expensive.

if it is just minor surface rust your paint has failed. you need to strip it to bare metal, etch prime it, seal it, and paint it. that is the best way to do it
