Camper or no camper?
Here recently i have been thinking about taking my camper shell off. I really like how it looks with the roof rack but sometimes i dont like it. What do you think? Who likes my current look and who doesnt?? Camper or no camper? That is the question

Consider how often you use that space vs. needing an open bed, then make your decision. All in all i think it looks great the way it is, tho i'm bias, i have a shell too!

i know that if i had a shell on my truck, i'd keep it on and only take it off when i need the bed for something. there's something to be said about being able to lock your stuff up under a weatherproof canopy. just add a couple of those sliding door bolts/locks to the tailgate so nobody can open her up by dropping the gate down - and make sure your canopy door locks work, too. plus, your canopy is color matched, which is even better!

I would tend to say leave it on... if fuel econ is a concern just take off the rack when you don't need it... I had my rack "removed" winter before last lol and I picked up about 2 mpg just from the reduced wind resistance... and no matter how good your install was the top rails will be all scratched up from the cap shifting and vibrating while driving which will look like crap when exposed...
plus IMO it looks better...

I personally like the way our trucks look with camper shells. Plus, yours looks exceptionally good. The only reason I don't have one is because I need something to haul my dirtbike around in.

I have a shell on my '94 and I just pull it off if I need to haul something that won't fit. I have recorded some of my best fuel economy with it on my truck, too. I have noticed that it also reduces wind noise on the highway and shades the rear window. That said, I have been considering leaving it off for a while just for a change of pace...
Just pull the thing off and see how you like it. Your highway economy should improve slightly without that rack sticking up in the slipstream. Unlike me, you have an extra cab and don't need it for locking things up.
