Calling the carburator pros
Starting my 22r, its purrs great. Once it gets warmed up, it goes to high idle. It will stay there until I tap the throttle, then it goes back down to normal idle of about 750 rpm. This happens after every acceleration, so at every stop light I have to tap the throttle. Bought my rig in January, have no idea of the history. Do I need to rebuild the carb or what?
This is driving me nuts.
New motor
New transmission
new almost everything

sounds like either the throttle linkage is sticking possible a bad/frayed cable, choke too tight or the carb plates are sticking on the manifold. Could also be a worn out spring assembly on the throttle.

Not a pro, but...my 20R did exactly what you're describing after I relocated the throttle cable for my body lift. I put a return spring on the linkage and it hasn't done it since. Not sure if it's just masking the problem but still no issues a year and a half later.
- Forgot to mention mine stopped idling up on it's own after it warmed up when I seafoamed it...FWIW.
