Cabin Light - Sensor?

I have a 92 regular cab 4x4 22re. The cabin light can be set to off/on/door. I installed a radio recently. When set to "door" the light does not come on when I open the driver side door. It DOES work when I open the passenger side door.

I'm figuring I messed up a wire or disconnected something on accident. Anyone know what triggers that light to come on and how to find a wire/fuse/whatever that controls it?

Thanks,

Greg

PS. I found these posts (through google search), but wasn't an unplugged thing.

the push switch inside the door jam.
If it worked before you put the radio in than start checking your connections....hard to tell what you may have knocked off during the install.

wiring diagram can be found with the FSM link in my signature

Thanks OCdropzone....I'll look through that FSM.

I'm guessing you were a paratrooper? I was in the 1/508th PIR 89-90, air assualt with the 3/187th (101st) 91-92, then 160th LRSD (CA national guard) 92-02

Door switch is probably broken. Think about it, the switch is used probably 6x more than the passengers side..

Yep: I was LRSD, 106th MI, 6th ID in Alaska...it was nice jumping only 6 guys to a pass instead of doing a Mass Tac Spent a few years in 10th MTN as a squad leader in A Co 2/87.
Nice to find another Long Range Guy

Hope you get the light thing fixed...my trucks wiring is so hacked up from 15 previous owners

Thanks guys, I should've been clearer....it worked before I installed the new radio and now it doesn't, meaning immediately after I finished (probably not more than 15 minutes) I noticed it didn't work. It could still be the white nipple door jam switch I guess, it would just be highly coincidental. Going to troubleshoot tonight.

Cool, LRSD guys are rare and are becoming even more rare. I recently heard my former unit was disbanded and they were absorbed by the cavalry scouts (no jump status) because they were considered "OBSOLETE" with the new predator drones. I don't know, there's nothing like boots on the ground...planes can't tell how deep the mud is or a river crossing for that matter...maybe they'll rely more on the battalion level recon guys.
