ok fluid is ok and brakes work EXCEPT brake light been comin on intermittent, mornings, first mile or two in second gear uphill, AND today in snow e-brake got frozen??? appeared to un-activate, but have my dcoubts there. Sorta the handle worked but no tension on it.....not enough troubleshooting yet....brake light advice? Also had plenty corros ion on pos battery terminal but hit it with de-ox, and inverter reads 14.x All brakes work (once thawed out) esp but open to cues here...fluid old but ok level

Any 'been there seen that' responses welcome!!!!

Could be the switch on the ebrake handle,causing the light. My 89 4runner's handle is a little worn so the switch and the little post on the handle didn't quite line up right until I bent the switch bracket a little bit. If it's not that your switch on the master cylinder may be going bad. Oh BTW my owners manual says not to use the ebrake if there is a possibility it could freeze, and to chock the wheels.

Yes one on the ebrake handle so you don't drive with the brake on. The other is on the master cylinder reservoir to tell you if the fluid level is low. They both illuminate the same light. I'll take some pics.

These are pics of the ebrake handle switch, one with the brake set the other with the brake released. The other two pics are of the master cylinder switch. Both are just simple open or closed switches real easy to test with a voltmeter, just check for continuity across the two terminals. Those pics are from my 89 runner, your master cylinder switch may differ slightly, but concept is the same.

hmm, ok i will check these next day or so, I did just find a unmated grey wire hanging under the ebrake, but assumed that accounted for my left speaker not working anymore...thanks for the pics, that is sooooo helpful and a huge timesaver!
