Hi I just replaced my brake pads and one of the pistons on my calipers wouldnt compress, my friend said i need a new one. Should I get one caliper to replace just that one or buy two? oh yeah almost forgot...what are some bad *** performance calipers?

Perhaps service the calipers with a rebuild kit and some emory cloth inside the cylinders.

Stock calipers are more than adequate.

x2. Rebuild your current caliper. It's quite easy, and the rebuild kit comes with everything you need, except for possibly one piston (if the one that is stuck is pitted from corrosion.)

whats emory cloth and why put it inside the cylinder? Thanks for your replys, saved me 100 some bucks

It's like sand paper. You basically are sanding down the rust that build up behind the pistons.

If they are just sort of sticking, just work them back and forth until they move freely, then bleed the brakes to get all the crud out of the wheel cylinders (inside the calipers). Its a judgment call, you may end up with too much rust in the brake fluid which could then go on to clog up other parts of the brake system. It did work for me though.

IIRC rebuild kit was about $35/side at the local auto parts store. I stripped the calipers, blasted, powder coated, completely rebuilt and had brand new calipers in essence for under $100.
