bought another one.

I just put some money down on another rig (waiting for the title to clear before I hand over the full amount) so it looks like I'll be in the middle of a build by this time next week.

It's a 1989 4runner, SR5 (no tach dang it) with the 22re (rebuilt less than 4 years ago), 5 speed, 4x4 etc. Royal blue outside and grey inside with a black removable top.

Ok it's going to need a serious cleaning and I'll have to take a torch to the home made bumpers as well as source some new window grommets since most of them are dry rotted. The console needs to be replaced and I think the t-case shifter is on backwards since it points towards the rear of the vehicle. Other than those things and a few odds and ends I think it'll be a nice little rig in about a year.

I'm looking to lift it (shocked?) with BJ spacers and either ZUK coils or new leaves, drop in a set of 4.88's and at least one locker, pull off the brand new 31 inch BFG AT's that are on there and install some 33 inch BFG MT's and swap over all of the things that I've done to my rig that I can.

Then we go camping!

Oh and on a side note I'm really surprised how small the 2 door 4runners are!

I'll snap some photos when it gets here although that means taking build money to go buy a camera.

I'm thinking of selling the truck to fund this build but am having second thoughts. I really like my pickup and may see if I can afford to keep both of them.

Keep both man! I know it'l be tight, and you might/probibly won't be able to build it up yet. Personally I could never sell my pickup, but I would LOVE to have a 1st gen runner to have fun with

Pics hell I'm going to make you lead me out to the hills again!!!!!

This is partly your fault you know. I didn't realize how much I liked the 4runners until I got to watch you crawl that hill while I was stuck at the bottom.

Why not transfer parts from the p/u to the 4runner?

Yeah this is an issue I'm wrestling with. I love my truck but am afraid I'd kill it if I pulled all the things off of it that will swap onto the 4runner. The front bumper, t-case plate, Supra AFM, gears and locker will all swap in over a weekend. Then I'll have a stock truck with stock gears up on 31's with a lift. It'll still look good but I don't know......

But I'd have an armored and locked 4runner and all I'd have to buy would be the lift (about 300$) and a matching MC rear bumper (again about 300$ with shipping).

I just don't want to swap everything over and then be mad at myself for doing so. I've put a lot of time and money into that little pickup.

Pretty much a non issue at this point since I'll be going through the entire 4runner fixing little lights, wires, doing some welding if it needs it, fluid changes, grease, etc. I want to make sure that I'd trust the vehicle to make a cross country run or to take on some mild trails before I start doing all the lifting and locking. A lifted rig that you can't wheel is more useless than a stock one that you are afraid to. It'll probably be 3 or 4 months (no time and no money right now) before it's all done no matter which way I decide to go with it.

If it was me I'd try and find a way to keep both. I don't think you would kill the pickup by pulling everything off of it. You could just sell it as a stock truck if your done with owning a pickup. Or, depending on the shape of the runner, why not make the pickup stock again and run it as a DD and modify the runner for the trails.

Also get pics of the twins on here asap

If it was me I would swap everything incuding the suspension to the 4runner.

It's really nice to have a completely stock truck to DD. My truck is so much better to drive on the highway than my 4runner it's not even funny.

Since you are going to do 33's and 4.88's anyway maybe leave the 4.56's in the truck and just remove the locker. You could probably sell it pretty easily then.

Did you buy the 4runner locally? I saw one a blue on CL last week and thought about you. I wish mine was blue....

I am looking forward to seeing the new one and it's evolution.

You need one of these for summer...

That blue one you saw is the one I bought.

Yeah I've already priced the bikini top and will be getting one depending one how much money I need to put into the vehicle to make myself happy.

So many decisions.
