Bought a 93 dlx pickup bogging issue

So I purchased a 93 pickup and I'm new to toyotas.
It drives great. But off a start in first it bogs really hard for a second as soon as it hits higher Rpms it revs fine and sounds fine. 2nd gear has no issues, nor does third.
Put it in 4th or 5th and it just struggles.
There is an all around loss of power.
It smells like it's running too rich.
It backfires a little but sounds more front end placed than from the rear.
The guy I purchased it from said he replaced fuel filter plugs wires and dizzy cap.
The car other than that drives great. I'm sure it's something silly.
I'm thinking that it's gotta be a few things.
Possible it's out of correct timing ?
Injector not firing ?
Spark issue ?
Does not burn oil or have any signs of headgasket issues or piston leaks. But I'll do a compression test when I can to test.
Or something that controls the air to fuel mixture
Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Okay. Drove her fine last night. Went to start her this morning. Cranks and cranks. Won't turn over. I smell gas. I'm thinking it's ignition related. The car is at my girls house and I'm gonna go get tools to pull spark plugs to test for spark. Will get back with results. Spark plugs are new along with wires.

Mine did the same thing. I did not seat the spark plug boot on my number 1 cylinder spark plug all the way. It was too long so i trimmed it and it fixed the issue. Just double check that they are all seated properly

I will check that as soon as I get under the hood again. Most likely tomorrow, gonna borrow a fuel pressure tester and check that also

Also. Don't know if it's a new symptom or not but when I go to start it. Sometimes it just clicks, I hear fuel pump but starter does not engage to start the car. Remove the key. Wait two mins and it cranks again.
I would say it's the starter. But. The morning It stopped working I got in it. Turned it over, she started. Bogged a little bit. Sputtered then died. Then wouldn't start again.
I sprayed starter fluid down the intake manifold. Wouldn't even sputter to life just kept on cranking

Check your cold start injector. Also run it at night and look for arcing on the plug wires, dizzy and coil. Also set the timing and in doing that check the setup of the TPS sensor (search). Make sure your intake tubing has no holes in it and the clamps are tight. Check your O2 sensor wiring (can get burned on exhaust).

Make sure your ground wires are good (starter not turning). Also check that your Circuit Open Relay/ AFM is working(no start condition).

Some things to try....

(all this assuming 22re engine, don't touch 3slows)
