So im looking at a 2'' body lift for my 94 4runner. I have no idea if people on here do this in there garages or whatnot, but i am going to a 4wd shop sometime just to look around.

I see a 2'' body lift on 4wheelparts for like $200, should i be expecting to be charged way more for this or should the price stay around $200?

So basically what im asking is, am I going to be charged alot more for labor?
Also, what have you guys been charged for lifts, if youve gone to a shop?

1. do it in your driveway that way if it is to tall your not stuck in the garage deflating all 4 tires hoping that will be enough to get you out.
2. yea the 4x4 shop will charge more then they will try and talk you into letting them install it becasue it is so difficult. NOT TRUE common since and some common tools and a day will save you big bucks vs. the 4x4 shop install.

2" BL from 4crawler.com is $117, and comes with everything. You can do it at your place, with a friend in a couple of hours. I, personally, would not even go to 4wheel parts as a last resort, upon pain of death, or even paid. I've heard more problems and horror stories 'bout them.

I plan on buying my 1" BL from 4crawler.com in the next few weeks.

Oh ok, thanks. Ive been reading that the 2'' gets complicated, should I look in to the 1.5'' BL or just stick with 2?

On our rigs, from what I've been reading on 4crawlers site, the problem really only start to arise when you go 3" or bigger. I have an auto tranny, so anything more than 1" and I'd start to run into problems. But like I said, check out 4crawlers site, there a plethera of great information.

Your gonna have a shop install your lift? Is this a joke?

You misewell go with a 3" body lift, Me, Jay351, Ovrrdrive, and about two dozen other people I know run them, and its FINE, so if anyones got anything to say about how lame they are, go polish your bracket lift.. Continuing... It takes about eight hours to do it if you take your time, and figure it all out, and have a buddy or two with a couple six packs of (Insert Brand Here) A shop will take their time on it trust me, and at 65$ an hour (Pretty decent shop rate) its gonna not only cost you 150$ for the lift from Performance Accessories, it will be $520.00 in labor, plus taxes... So do you want to spend

Oh, i didnt realize it is going to run me that much at a shop lol. The only problem i have is that i dont have a shop to do it in, or have the proper tools to do it. I could ask my old shop teacher at my old high school if i could do it there but i dont think that will work.

So 3'' is the way to go? Is it really noticable when you look in the wheel wells?

Also, can you post some pics of your truck? You do say you have a truck, I am runnin a 4runner, will that matter?

yeah, what trusty said. If you're going to have a shop do it, go with the 3" kit and be done with it. There is not a darn thing wrong with BL up to 3".

I did my 1" lift with my buddy in his garage and neither of us had done one before. 4crawler has great instructions with his kits. I very satisfied with the his products and with the installation of the BL.

Don't sell yourself short. Give it a try.

yea im fine with installing it, i just dont have alot of tools.

You will need to
-Extend Shifters (Welder)
-Drop Radiator
-Extend Steering
-Drop Bumper
-Install lift blocks
-I think thats all, prolly more, the instructions with the PA kit were very detailed, you can take some short cuts though, don't worry about brake lines, clutch lines, heater hoses, or any of that crap.. Just make sure nothings pinched and everything has clearance in the engine bay, the 3" is the best bang for the buck, the lift ain't that noticable if you get gap gaurds and run a rock slider.. 4Runner or not don't matter, I did it in a shop with a floor jack, 2X4, 6 Pack, and hand tools.. We did a buddies in the pouring rain in his back yard laying on cardboard, its frickin' easy.. Heres some pics...

The kit from 4crawler does include all that is mentioned above, the drop brackets and such....

Eight hours plus time for a half an hour dump, reading through an autotrader, a run across town for Wendy's and enough time to jam to some Tool... I just kinda did it in a day, and then spent the next day f'n with the shifters and tightening everything down, and painting the frame.. Its pretty fun, easy too if you take your time..

I got my kit for 110$ on Ebay brand new... They're just lift pucks, its all the same, quality is fine, its not like you'll take it off four or five times so don't worry about the hardware, they bolts with the PA kit are strong enough, you gotta pay extra from 4Crawler for Grade 8...

My brother owns a garage and he installs them for $350 ,install is overnight so you spend $125 for lift $350 install= $475 .Better off doing it yourself not hard with a couple of buddies

Thanks for all the input. Im going to go with a 3'' BL from 4crawler, well when i have some money laying around lol.

Also, should i worry about the rear bumper? The kit includes front bumper stuff but not the rear..?
