So I went to go to the store this morning and found that my blower motor only works on Hi now. Was working on low, 2, and Hi yesterday. 3 has worked intermittently for a while now.

Found that switch and plug with contacts was burned slightly on 3, but a little contact cleaner and electric grease fixed it for about a week. Second switch I have gone through where this has happened with speed 3. What would keep causing this?

Also, Now that High only works, can I safely assume that my blower motor resistor finally gave up the ghost after 21 years? Time to order a new one?

Does anyone know where I could get the OEM connector on the wiring harness side that plugs into the blower switch? I would like to replace the burned one.

With just Hi working, it is a good chance that the resistor is burned. Not sure what is ruining your switches. I would check the bone yard for a new plug.

Just to make you aware that there are two styles of resistors. Some were 3 prong and others are 4 prong.

You need to custom make a resistor pack to get it back, you could check ebay but I suspect its been long discontinued. Radio Shack can be your friend.

Bad connection has high resistance. Current through that high resistance causes that connection to get hot. Connectors are not designed to get hot. Heat makes the already bad connection worse and hotter. That probably caused your connector to go bad.

Also, the resistive wire in your resistor pack may have a break, but the two parts of the wire still touch each other. Each time wire vibrates they lose and make contact. That's why you have an intermittent problem. Breaking and making contact causes arcing, especially on a motor circuit. That also makes resistor pack and the connector hotTER.

Resistor pack is cheap.
