blower motor bad ?
first two setting I and II blower motor doesn't come on. III and HI it does and acts accordingly, however does sound like i might have a leaf in there ???
Anyway when i do turn it on, i think i posted somewhere else on here, that the idle rpm will change about 50-100 rpm just enough to be noticeable and the headlight will dim when its on. does not do this in I and II however.
Your thoughts ?
P.S. I does throw heat, just not as hot as is was before the rebuild.

Because the resistor is located at the bottom of the blower motor case, it gets lot of fun goodies stuck between the coils causing high resistance (causing NO low speed fan operation). when you pull it down/out, you'll find;
bees
flies
dragonfly wings
dirt
newspaper
mouse/rat turds
clean the coils and that doesn't work, it's prolly time to replace it.....

zombie--this thread is alilve
so I have a similar problem, but my motor doesn't work hardly at all at level 3. Level 1 and level 4 (high) work great. Level 2 is a bit faster than level 1, but 3 is lower than level 1.
Y'all think it's the blower resistor as well?

I've never dealt with one, but here's some info: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Blower.shtml

My g/f's mom just gave her a 93' and the blower is SOO loud on higher speeds. Is something loose, or is it just full of junk? I haven't had a chance to look at it, and Im assuming its one of those certain set of common problems certain vehicles get as they age. Anyways, is everything easily accessible and straight forward? Just wondering if there are any quick solutions so I don't spend 4 hours hunting down a 15 min fix. Thanks guys.

So, I replaced the resistor and so now all of my settings work, well mostly, all but #3 which acts more like a 1.5 speed. So, 0, 1, 2, and 4, work perfect.
I could have sworn I read something happening to a person and that maybe it had something to do with the brushes, but I can't find the thread.

Sorry to have to bump, but my searches only lead to posts that suggest to replace the resistor. I've done that and yet #3 is too slow...
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

Okay, had some time to find another thread that *might* be related:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ctures-227171/
TL;DR, basically the connector to the blower (after the resistor) can go bad. This thread describes how to rebuild that connector to avoid a $75 part from the dealer.

$60 from autozone, for my 87 it would be like $40.
THey also happen to have the switch, at least for a 92, but not my 87. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...vice=103350358 $30

Sweet, $60. It is that annoying but not quite three times that annoying. I'll grab one. They have the correct fan switch for $28 also. Someone should tell the guy that spent 4 hours rebuilding his.

I just followed this link: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Blower.shtml and ordered the $22 fan brushes. Even better than the $60 motor.

Cool. I stand corrected.
That's the fan switch. That also might be your problem. My fan switch took a long time to fail, jiggling it made the backlighting work, the low setting was sometimes faster than high, etc. This was over the course of a year or more. Got a used switch and the plug in goes into (usually melted too) for $15 at the junkyard. I haven't replaced it yet. It failed this past summer so I took it out and jumpered the connections so my fan is set to high all the time. I needed that for the the A/C during the summer. I will replace it soon but have notice now that my fan makes a little noise on cold mornings until it's warm. Not sure if it's $181 worth of annoying yet. That's the price here: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0
