Best place to purchase shifter bushing upgrade?

So like most folks, my 1989 4runner with a 5 speed transmission in order to shift it, you have to ask the passenger to slide towards their door so I get shift it into 5th gear or reverse. Shifts out buttery smooth, but there is a lot of slop in the shifting.

Best place to purchase the bushing kit? Marlin Crawler the only choice, dealer, ebay?

Also, if you have a direct link to the parts I need, that will be appreciated since I'm still a little unsure exactly what I'm going to need to get the sloppiness out of the shifting.

Thanks a lot.

The dealer is the easiest place to get it in my opinion. I don't have the parts you need, but you can call them and just tell them you need a bushing kit for your year. Dealers in my area keep a lot of these in stock. Parts will be less than $20, and it will be the best 20 mins you ever spent...

Unless you live in Siberia... The dealer... Always tickles me when ppl suggest known suppliers that are 10 zip codes away... And there is a 90% chance you can pick one up at your nearest Toyota dealer...

Or just freaking call so they can have it when you go... and let them eat the shipping

guess you can put a price on waiting

The dealer supplied, OEM shifter seat(not a kit, just one part. Order the bushing for the end of the shifter stick separately.) is not an upgrade. The only UPGRADE I've heard of is the Marlin part. Having seen and installed both the OEM and the Marlin units, I'd guess that the Marlin seat will outlast the OEM by 5X to 10X.

The factory ones are Nylon... So order a Marlin if you want it... If you don't mind waiting...

Otherwise a factory one will prolly out last your ownership of the truck...

Go to the dealer and ask for a 5 spd "shifter seat and bushing". Sometimes the little boot is torn too.

Received the Marlin shifter bushings and installed them. Was surprised how easy it was to do. Really, really, tightened up the shifting and it shifts like a newer truck now. Very happy with how it turned out.
