Best Exhaust?

Ok I have an 88 pickup 22r 2wd,all stock second engine, 427k. I am working on the tune up, and cant stand the exhaust much longer. I would like to have quite when I am driving. I have seen a walker and a Bosal on a couple of different places. Is one better than the other?

Or does anyone have any suggestions. My goal is fuel economy and quite.

Thanks for all who answer.

Best fuel economy will be achieved with all highflow stuff. Just keep that In mind.

No not exactly. Highflow means that your exhaust flow is alot better then stock. The more exhaust out the better the power along with MPG. For example. I'm running a highflow magnaflow cat. It does the job as a OEM cat except it flows gases alot faster and better

No need to spend money on name brand exhaust. You just need the right size pipes. I believe it is 2 inch all the way to the muffler and 2 1/4 from muffler back. Key is to have no bottlenecks from a cat or muffler, with a slightly larger pipe leaving the muffler to create positive flow. Make sure the cat is 2 inches. Some are smaller and restrict flow. It doesn't really make any difference on the muffler itself, as long as it is 2 inches. I run a stock style muffler because I want it as quiet as possible. I don't have a cat, because we don't have emissions in Alabama. Minus cat, a decent muffler shop can get you out the door with the perfect exhaust for under $200.00. There is no power to be had by using any larger diameter pipe.

If you're worried about noise you may not like a high flow cat. For my truck I have a test pipe, a high flow LCE cat and the stock cat. There is a quite large difference in exhaust note when I swap between these three.

I have a magnaflow highflow muffler as well. It's not loud, but it is louder than stock muffler since I also did not want a noisy ride, just better MPG and HP. I like it.

If you want a really quiet ride though, you'll need to get a stock muffler. You'll have a decrease in MPG's though...
