hey guys,
so ive been wanting to do this for a while now, and today i picked up 2 quarts of Herculiner at walmart. Got started around 1:00 and just got done awhile ago. I couldnt believe it but one quart size container did 2 coats on the rockers and still had some left. Also while i was at it i sprayed the bumpers with some high gloss paint. Ok well enough of that, on to the pics.

Tape, and paper down...working on sanding.













First coat on, bumpers painted.







And second coat on, removed tape, and paper









cant really see it but the bumper has been painted, and oh yea i herculined my front valance.



so thats it for now, gonna get some more pics of it tomorrow in the light. what do yall think? oh yea mad props to my dad who stars in a few pics in there, he layed all the tape and paper perfectly strait.

Interesting idea. Thought of it, but never seriously considered. I'd like to see it after the solvents have flashed off and the dust settles on it.

My primary thumb down is how you masked behind the rear wheel: from the front wheel to the rear, you masked along top of the rubber trim but behind the rear wheel, you masked along the bottom of the rubber trim. So you've got a "step" behind the rear wheels that you don't have in front of the rear wheel.

yea didnt relize that till i got done, dont know what happened. but its getting fixed soon!

Cool, it gives me an idea of how it might look on my truck. I want to do the same thing, but on a 2nd gen.

yea its for sure worth it, especially when all it really costs is about $30 in supplies and some time. and if you do end up doing it, use a brush instead of a roller, just kinda blotch it on with the brush and it turns out better than rolling it on.

Looks good, I will do the same thing eventually, but I have some rust issues to take care of first. I'll probably go up over the fender as well. Good work.

Looks good. How much did you end up spending on the herculiner?

Only thing I would do is ditch that valance!

Well i bought 2 quart size cans of the herculiner, and there 20 bucks a piece. so $40, ended up being about $47 with tax, and i bought a roller i didnt end up using. but if all your going to do is the rockers, 1 can will do perfect. oh yea the valence is coming off when i get a new front bumper. either gonna be a custom plate bumper, or a deer slayer.

x2 on going up over the fender. Of course, those cracked up stripes would probably have to go.

Could try the razer blade approach. Though if it were me, I'd probably just tape it off, and do herculiner over it. That way it's like herculiner body graphics lol.

It appears to have been on there forever. Paint will probably come off with it. Just even out the back there, and go up to the eadge on the rear bumper.

If they're still pliable (flexible) and not just completely brittle you can buy a stripe remover, it's basically a giant circular eraser you put in a drill and use to rub it off.

They're about $20. I was able to buy one at an auto detailing store. If that doesn't work, then I doubt you'll be able to get it off without repainting. Unless you want to try a liquid stripe remover, but I have no experience with those.

I believe that its 3M that makes a product to go on a orbital buffer that is like a giant eraser. professional body shops use them to remove decals without so much as a scratch to the paint underneath. try google with some key terms, I'm sure you can find it.

x2 on them pictures man and i though you had to spray on that liner not roll it on just a though though what about the cans of spray liner are they any good????
