Bearing type noise in tranny bell housing
1993 4runner 5 speed man.
Bout two days ago or so, picked up a whine/grinding noise like a bearing going out from the bell housing area. yesterday I could shut the motor off, then restart and noise would go away. Immediately shut off and restart and noise would be there again. Shut off restart and noise would be gone....ie hit and miss
Today the noise is there all the time no matter what.
So noise is there when its in neutral. Push the clutch in and its still there. Take the clutch out and still there. Push clutch in and put tranny in gear and noise is still there. Let clutch out and head down the road and noise is constant. Doesn't go away or change if in gear or rolling in neutral. Rpm of motor doesnt have any change or effect in sound. The noise does not go away in 4th gear. Clutch seems to engage fine and change gears fine. Not slipping. checked gear oil and it is not low.
Basically its the same noise all the time.
So what do yall think? Not sure if its T/O or Pilot? Seems like one or the other change far as noise depending on clutch engaged or not engaged.
Not sure which would make noise all the time and so fast? Or if its some other bearing?
I guess I could do the ole throw a whole kit at it, but thats not really figuring out which or what the real problem it.
Anybody ran into this. Thanks

If not the pilot or throw out bearing, I would look at this bearing>>> https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...eekend-271102/ If the transmission shaft has a lot of movement it is a sign of this bearing being worn out.
