Battery/Intake Swap

Sooo, just went through all the serch for battery intake swaps and really didnt get too many of my questions answerd so here I go.
1) The tray, what did yal do to mount the battery? saw one where guy fabed up a sick little battery holder.
2) to extend the MAF wires you just cut them in half, add wire with butconnecters?
3) how much extra wire& cable you goign to need?
4) Any thing im missing?
Thanks once again YT!

For the battery mount, I'm looking into some battery trays (saw some at autozone and carquest). Also try looking at battery boxes.

For extending the wires, all I did was cut & splice and tape them up. If you go to the car section of wal-mart you'll see a roll of wire (20 feet, i think). I used a whole roll of this, but I'd recommend buying 2 rolls.

I fabbed my own battery tray to simulate the original on the passenger side with the hook hole too. That way, you can use the factory battery clamp and hook bolt. There is a hole with a nut plate on the top of the headlight window that matches the passenger side to bolt the battery holder to. For mounting, I used too bolts through the to of the fender weel and too bolts through the side of the fender well. Hell, I even punched the two big holes through the plate to use the factory plastic tray. I dont have any pics because my computer died with all of them on it and no back ups. I am pretty sure I posted some pics on this site though. THe engine bay is white and the tray is blue if you come across them. Have fun.

Use the stock air box, or make a shield for the filter if you do swap

I did this swap and used an open element short cone filter...sucked water/mud on dry ground. Power difference isn't drastic, crisper throttle response, and i gain a mpg if that. I'll be swapping back to stock soon as my battery hold down is a bungee and I cant keep mud and crud out of the intake.

I just did mine. I don't know which truck you have, but on my 93 pickup all I did was open up the loom that the wire is in. you can then pull the wiring out for the maf. it will come out on top of the intake. put it in some loom (i hope thats what that plastic covering is called) and route it to the maf. it is more than long enough. as for the tray, I just welded up an angle iron one with brackets to the fender well and used the stock battery clamp. everyone says don't use metal for the tray, but the battery hold down has lasted since 93 going over top of the battery. all my other vehicles have metal trays and hold downs. they are still in one piece so I'm not to worried about the angle iron.
