bad water pump housing HELP

I am in the middle of replacing my water pump and I got the new one on and I noticed that it is leaking on the gasket. I looked under truck and where the bolt on bottom right of water pump(when standing in-front of truck) bolts into is broke out. It looks like it bolts into a removable part below the the head. I called the parts store they said it is a water pump housing and is dealer order only.

Has anybody replaced this, can it be done in my garage(was planing on replacing head gasket next month), where can I get one and how long to get and replace. this truck is my daily driver.

sounds like your talking about the timming chain cover.
i would look for a used one, although if you search online you may find a new one cheap.

if you are careful, it is possible to replace the timming chain cover without pulling the head.
i've done a couple, It can be done in a day. I would pull the rad and grill to give you a better view since its your first one

of course you could try to extract the broken bolt as well

whatever you do, do not try and use any stop leak etc in the cooling system, that just creates more problems.
