Bad Plugs + Wires?

Bad Plugs + Wires?
Hi everyone, I've been a lurker for quite some time and decided to take the plunge and become a member today.
I just started having an issue with my truck (1989 SR5 V6) starting after sitting for an extended period of time. Also, I've noticed that the idle is around 500 RPMs although there are no signs of it stalling (car feels perfectly fine). Also, when the engine is cold and I quickly blip the throttle in neutral, I can feel hesitation and a lack of power as it only climbs up a few hundred RPMs. However, when the car is warmed up, this problem goes away (the RPMs will sometimes still drop to around 500 but the engine does not shudder).
Could this issue be because of bad plugs and wires? I've done some research and based on my findings, it seems logical. I am sure someone on this awesome forum has gone through the same thing and can provide some insight on this noobie.
Anywho, thanks for the read and please let me know your thoughts .

I'm having similar problems with my truck. It is incredibly hard to get the idle to stay at a healthy level. It loves to drop to 500 rpms at red lights and chug away without stalling. I'm wondering if plugs wires could be a culprit too. Ive replaced every vacuum line, my PCV valve, cleaned my throttle body and cleaned my airbox/replaced the air filter. Still chugs away, even though my idle adjusting nuts are maxed out on the threads...

Hey guys, thanks for your replies!
The car has the starting issue if it's been sitting for 6+ hours.
No check engine light or anything.
The low idle issue started first before the ignition problem.

did you check
check your Idle air control valve if its clogged you,ll have trouble starting
but when its warmed up it will run ok
Heat makes it close cold makes it open.
Or the idle screw out of adjustment or clogged

Why not inspect plugs and measure wire resistance?
Visual inspection of plugs would give clues to cause of problem. Wires can be checked with simple resistance measurement. Check you FSM for specs.
For ignition wires & plugs I'm very happy with www.sparkplugs.com. Good brands at a good price.

If you do end up replacing the plugs, use the NGK V-Power copper plugs. Not only are the the recommended plugs in the FSM and by Toyota, they are also one of the cheapest!
