hmmm... my idle problem ended up being A LOT of slack in my timing chain thanks to a broken guide and a shot tensioner and it probably didn't help that the rest of the motor had 296k miles on it

Rough Idle
Most of the rough idle problems can be attributed to a dirty mass air flow sensor. This is located in the air intake tube between the air filter box and the throttle body. It is usually held in place by a couple of screws and will have a small wiring harness attached to it. If you unplug the harness and unscrew the two screws you should be able to pull the unit out fairly easy. Use an Electronics Cleaner to spray the VERY small wire inside the bulb without touching it. Let it dry in the sun or whatever, but don't blow on in with compressed air as this could damage it. These things cost about $130 on average, but will last 10 years + if you perform this maintenance on them about once a year. Hope this info helps you

Every now and then my truck will idle really low 500 or lower, and then she will die, i can keep her runnin but, when i pop the hood ill most likly find this hose hanging off the intake.
Its the hose that comes off the box next to the air box, its a vac line. I just plug it back in and im good.
