Unhappy Bad gauge cluster?

Ok so I have a 92 4runner auto v6 4x4, about 3 weeks ago the speedo and odometer went out, 2 days ago the fuel gauge went with it...
Which leaves me with 2 questions.
More than likely this means the cluster is bad, correct?
Is there anyway to tell if the speedo is cable driven or electric without pulling the dash?
I really hate to pull it all out, then put it back together, then do it all again once I get the correct part...

Any ideas of info/answers are GREATLY appreciated!!!

Look on the end of the transfer case and see if there is a cable coming off the end of it, if yes then it's cable driven, if only wires are present then electronic.

On my 5sp (yes I know you have an auto) there was a two-wire pigtail that crossed over the bellhousing from the passenger's side and plugged in to what I think is the Reverse Light switch, this chaffed one time and gave me fits. I'd blow fuses for the gauges, my speedo would work and then stop and then work again, jiggling wires near the dash and kick-panel-fuse box ran me in circles until I came across the chafe purely on coincidence.

Again i know yours is a slip-box but widen your eyes to just about anything.

This interests me. On my truck, My speedo works when it wants. other times it will just stick at some point and not move until I shut the truck off. At times my tach will not read correctly. Were you experiencing similar issues?
