Back in 4WD My new 88 extracab
I made the mistake of selling my 90 2 years ago cause it didn't have AC.
I have been looking for a 3rd gen Excab 4WD V6 5sp with AC all summer. I want something for some very mild wheeling and to be able to drive to Durango in the winter.
I have been looking at craigslist all over the west and was not having much luck in the 2-5K price range. I looked at 3 in Albuquerque in the last few weeks for $3500 and they were all piles...
Last week I found an 88 excab V6 5sp with AC in Phoenix. The truck looked great in the ad. One owner 197,000 miles, just had the top half of the motor rebuilt $3500
I flew in and bought it yesterday and drove it home. The truck had some needs but it is sweet.
It needs new CV's, U joints, tires and a few other things, here I go again.

Thanks for the compiments guys.
I plan to keep this one for a long time.
First I need to take care of the mechanical needs:
CV's
U joints
The idle fluctuates until it warms up
Tires
Shift bushing and seat
Needs new coolant and windshield washer tanks
Then I can start with the fun stuff.
BJ spacers
OME 2" springs
OME shocks
33x10.50 BFG AT on the stock alloys
Grant GT wheel from my 2wd
Deck and speakers from the 2wd
Have a new console cover and shift boot made
1" 4crawler body lift and new body mount bushings
Marlin crawler HD clutch
4.88 gears
Bumpers
That should be plenty to get me started.
I will definitely keep the stripes...

Hey, that list looks very familiar, with the exeption of a couple of cross outs, lol.
Due km2s instead of the all-terrains. Trust me i looked into both before purchasing mine and i couldnt be happier. Km2s are far more superior, not to mention they ride like street tires. I dont even go offroad anymore, mostly city & highway, & they still look new. (still have the little "hairs" on em)
Im a big fan of the decals!

Here are a bunch of the "old man" parts I removed yesterday.
Side steps, hood air deflector, cheesy lights and bent rear bumper.
I am off to the upholstery shop to see about getting the console lid recovered in grey leather.
Here is the one from my old 4runner, it looked really good.
