auto Trans wont shift to overdrive 91 4rnr 2wd v6

at first it would not shift into overdrive unless it was at normal operating temperature. and now it won't shift into od gear at all. also for some strange reason it operates at a lower temperature. just want to explore my options before I consider replacing the transmission all toge. any and all info would be greatly appreciated thank you

It is completely normal for the tranny not to shift into "overdrive" (4th gear) when not warmed up... Not sure why Toyota did this, but this is the way it was from the factory

If you are noticing that you are running cooler than normal, there is a good chance your thermostat is stuck open which would keep the engine from heating up enough to trigger the temp switch that allows the tranny to go into overdrive.

Thermostats are fairly easy to change and fairly cheap as well... If I were you I'd start there
