Ardent's "New" 87 4Runner
Just picked this up on Sat. Found it on Craigslist. He was asking $700 and said that it ran. I made the almost 2 hour drive and he couldn't get it started. Long story short, I walked away with it for $550. Brought it home, and replaced the fuel pump and siphoned about 5 gals of the nastiest fuel I've ever smelled (had been sitting for 2+ years).
It still doesn't start, but it's definitely getting fuel now. I'm thinking the timing is off now as it is backfiring out the exhaust when cranking, and once it fired out of the intake (Blew the intake off). I found the FSM and I'm going to try to set the timing to 5 degrees TDC like it says, but as I've never done it before, it'll probably take me a while.
Any input is appreciated.
He's already done the SAS, but he used 7" superlift springs and 2" lift shackles- far to tall for my liking. I'm thinking of dropping it down a bit (maybe 3-5") and running 35's. That's really all I've thought through so far. And as money is practically non-existent right now, this will probably be a 2 year build- and I'm looking forward to every minute of it.
Sorry for the trailer night shots. I'll try to post some better one's this weekend.
Thanks for looking!
