Question Anyone Have the link to Rear window Repair Write Up

Hi

i use to have the link to the rear window repair fix write up

it was a very good write up about how you had to replace some parts that you could get at radio shack

in it it said it wasnt the window motor that needed to be replaced but some like fuse type things

im thinking i wanna fix my window this weekend so i might try it out

so please post that link if anyone has it, or something similar

Red face How do i get my rear window down manually, I did relay fix, still broke

Hi

I did the relay fix and my rear window still wont go down i dont know if it is because it hasnt been used in so long 1-2 years

i did all the lube possiblities and had 2 people trying to get it down

basically is there a way to get it down with brute force from inside the tailgate

one thing i can say is i didnt try to jump the window motor to test if it was the relays or the motor i just hoped the relays would fix it

please help

I think you'd have to find another motor (~$20) and swap it in from the cargo area of the truck.

You can jumper the motor and lower it that way.

If you remove the motor the window should come down as well.
It will probably come down fast though.

Check the tracks to see if they're binding on the glass anywhere. If you can move the glass up and down freely and easily without the window regulator, that tells me it's either the motor or the regulator itself. Check both for binding.

maybe the contacts arent latching to think the tailgate is closed? that will make it not roll up or down as if the tailgate was down. Just try to jump the motor and roll it down.

Dont' know if you are still looking but here is a link to a write about it. Click here

The one problem is that the relay he used to fix it are not made many more. When I did this to my 4runner i used automotive relay by a company called NEC.
I found them at mouser electronics. Don't remember part no. it has been a while back. Hope this helps.

i haven't started to look into it myself yet, i've got a couple other isses that are more pressing (finish head gasket change, got a starting issue, my rear diff leaks, and THEN my rear window, in that order). but off the top of my head, the first thing i'm going to do is remove the rear window access panel, pull the motor electrical plug, and have my wife push the switch button up and down to see if i can sense any voltage getting to the plug. if you do have voltage, then you got a burnt out motor. if you don't have voltage, the motor is most likely fine and the problem is elsewhere. if my problem is elsewhere, then i'll have to do some research to figure out where.

Red face Where can i buy Rear Window Motor Cheap

Hey everyone

Well first off i need to replace my brake light..... and My hatch doesnt come down because my rear window won't come down

Ive done the relay fix no help i should have tried to jump the window motor before the fix but i didnt. I tried jumping it after and it didnt do anything. so it must be the motor because you can hear a noise that power is coming to it, but it must be broke cause nothing is happening.

Ive researched this a lot and heard the motor is the same as the other door motors but when i called napa there are different parts for all of them.

So my question is where can i get the rear window motor the cheapest. because i head the only way to get the window down is taking out the mtor

And as i said before i swear people have replaced the rear window motor with ones theyve gotten out of door windows from the junkyard

Please help ive been rocking a bad brake light for a while

I understand. So, I'll tell you. Notify me everytime a poster needs a part from "somewhere", I'll just happen to pop in and mention a few words, then I get 15% on the sale. Deal??

You can pay Abekins to toot your horn, though. Then again, I heard he'll work for free....

Red face I need tips for rear tailgate window removal

first off i cant get my window down so ive been working on removing it with the hatch closed from the inside of my car.....I need help

Im going to replace the motor and im stuck on one bolt left after getting the two others its a pita to get to and im letting it soak in pb blaster for the night

my question is do you have any tips to getting the main window assembly off like.

i want to get my rusty metal rails holding the window off but didnt see any means to getting them to come off

the whole reason im finally fixing my tailgate is to get to a bad brake light so if you have any ideas to get the window down and tailgate to open please tell me and my motor wont jump wich makes me think it needs to be replaced and i did the relay fix

When i did mine, i had to do it from the inside as well. You need to manually get the window down so you can release the arms from the bottom of the window. once you get it so the arms are horizontal you can pull each slider out of the track on each side of the bottom of the window. I dont have any pics because I did this a couple of years ago. Also if you get the window down manually from the inside of the rig you can then let the tailgate down and work on it from the outside so you arent so cramped.

If you arent sure how to get the window down: get the window motor gear separated from the other gear on the lifting arm assembly and then the arms should relax and be able to move. once the motor gear is moved out of the way there shouldn't be anything holding the window up.
