am i the only one

am i the only one who misses my old DLX gauge cluster? im startin to think the sr5 cluster was a waste of money, i mean the oil pressure gauge is useless, the battery gauge simply shows if theres a charge in the battery, the gas gauge is inaccurate as hell (according to the gas gauge, my tank is EMPTY every 3 days.) i know driving 80 miles a day isnt great, but its on freeway. it read empty after the first 2 days, and i been driving around on EMPTY for the past 2 days, and the gas light hasnt come on, and i havent run out of gas.) i didnt have any problems with my DLX cluster, the gas gauge actually worked! lol. am i the only one who misses the big old gauge? my DLX is going back in as soon as it stops raining

That's funny. Both of the sr5 clusters have been taken out of my parts trucks by friends who hated the base dash. The oil, fuel, and voltmeter all work fine, if my oil preassure drops on the hiway or trail I will notice it ealier and the voltmeter can give you a good heads up on alternator failure so you can get to a parts shack before the battery dies. Stick with the sr5 and calibate the fuel or use your tripometer to double check the gauge.

I had a problem in my SR5 with the gas gauge dropping to E after it dropped a few gallons. Turned out to be a bad sender in the gas tank, probably due to the previous owner's botched battery replacement fiasco.

I know what you mean about the gas gauge. On mine, it goes pretty normally to the E but the gas light doesnt come on. Im sure the bulb is good because i put in a new on just in case. I dunno what it is but its anoyying. Besides this problem though the guage is one of the best "mods" (if you can call it that) that i have done. The tachometer is so damn useful, It helps me to keep the RPMS low to get good gas milage.

What about the turbo clusters, are those working good for people?

I also have the I want to replace my cluster bug, but if things stop working then forget it.

i dont have an sr5 gauge but the only reason i would get one is for the tach but i might just get an aftermarket tach instead.

I have a sr5 cluster, but have not swapped it out for the reasons perscribed above. I'm just gonna add a few gauges in my center console and be done w/ it.

I like mine, i definitely would not be happy without a tach. The gas gauge on mine stays where it is at all the time, it is fairly accurate. The only time i have a problem with the gas gauge is when it gets around 1/4 tank left then it will drift to empty. But i try not to let my tank run that low anyways.

My fuel guage stays on full always. PITA, but everything else works. For some reason it was blowing cluster fuses when going in reverse, but turned out to be the reverse switch. kinda wierd. Anybody know how to fix the fuel guage? Seens like a common prob.

In some of my past Yotas everytime there was a fuel guage issue...it was always the sending unit....ie: bad ground, broken wire....I have had this with 2 pickups a tercel and a corolla. Maybe just some of us are jinxed.

I have never swapped out a cluster, wouldnt the truck getting the cluster need more than just the cluster? Like sending units of sorts?

no... a gas gauge is a gas gauge. lol. now the oil pressure unit... theres the oil pressure switch, which turns the oil LIGHT on when oil pressure drops, then theres the oil pressure sender, which sends the oil pressure to the oil gauge. the voltimeter is simply telling you if theres electrical current, the tach is, well, a tach. and i think thats about it.... someone correct me if im wrong.

im on my 3rd sr5 truck and Ive never had any problems with reading the gauges. I prefer reading the gauges of the sr5 to my mustang.

I love my sr5 cluster. Now im hoping to get one of those apillar pods so I can replace the stock temp, oil pressure, and volt meter with aftermarkets, but I still like the stock layout and the tach. No aftermarket tack looks good to me. Besides, my grant gt blocks all the idiot guages
