am I crazy...selling 4runners for a suzuki

ive been toying the idea of selling my trial runners..
4 a suzuki on toyota axles.. it would be alot easyier for my hilux to tow and i usually wheel jus tmyself with a group of trucks so i dont need all the room my 4runners have...

to put a solid axle under my runner with rear to match atleast 3 grand.. i could prolly get the sami for the what i sell my trucks for... has 85 trussed and diff gaurd axles that are hung loosely in place.. project is 80 percent done..

does anyone else like suzuki samurai's?

My only complaint about the zuki's is the short wheelbase. If you've got a decent sized rock to hop/steep enough incline the front wheels can more easily come up over your head. There was a pic not too long ago of a toy straddling a rock and it was fairly plain to see that the zuki would be sitting on its tailgate or rolled backwards on its top.

zuks with the toy axles is very capable if set up right. There is never one good wheel base. One is either to long or two short. the 62 axles could be a pain to deal with.

please for the love of anything evil dont sas the new diesel please.

i say sell one of your trucks the one that gave you hell and get the zuk man i love them and ive been trying to find one for a long time now and one on yota axles is going to be very very very good at off roading but anything over 60mph would get very hair raising

After a quick search I found that the wheelbase on a suzuki samurai is 80". If I remember right my first gen 4runner is about 105". I wonder how far you can stretch the samurai's wheelbase on the stock frame while still using leaf springs.

Have you locked your front axle? If not do so before going SAS, you may find you don't really need the extra wheel travel.

I don't think there is quite as much aftermarket support for Suzuki, and finding second hand parts at a wrecker may prove quite difficult, although from the sounds of it, only half of it is going to be Suzuki.

Personally, I'd get a pickup instead of the 4Runner or Suzuki for a trail rig.

im also in talks with a 84 pickup...
but the samy is so light my hilux would thank me towing long trips...

i havent locked the front of the ifs.. and although we al prolly dont need it.. id like a solid front and rear axle trail rig that flexes.. or i just continue wheeling the ifs...

i want a truck i can take up north and crawl rocks go in the mud and be reliable..
i wheel with a bunch of zuks on toy axles and they seem to do amazing.

My buddy has a Zuk, not on toy axles, just stockers, sprung over, if he actually took the time to set it up right it'd be a beast. His buddy has one on toy axles, lockers cage etc, pretty fun

Good for the trail but all around just to damn small.

Are you crazy? Well....sort of! Just get a '85 pickup. lightweight and easy to mod. The big drawback I see to the samurai is aftermarket parts, and wheelbase. Personally If I see something I want I go for it! Ultimately its your decision!

I love those suzukis. I'd definitely make the trade off. I've always wanted a samurai.

If you ever see a sidekick/tracker for sale, those are pretty kickass as well. Was my first "truck" and I miss it. I only sold it because I moved to australia.

By the way, if you ever want a modern samurai, they still manufacture them in australia and great britain. In australia they're under the name "Sierra" or "Jimny" They look the same, with a little more modern components. They're wicked cool.
