alternator upgrades

I want to know what everyone is doing on the alternator upgrade for 2nd gen 22re motors.... I have read a lot of old posts on this and other forums. Most of those are at least 4 years old. Is there anything new out there? I do not want to modify the alternator so that it will be a plug and play situation on the trail if and when replacement is needed. I like the GM "CS" style alternator due to there ruggedness and availability.

Thank you for your time.

22Re motors and those GM alternators are old and have not changed in the past 4 years so write-ups of mods done properly 4 years are still good today.

Just what added electrical demands does your vehicle now have??

Second Generation 22Re being any built after the start of the 1985 Model year

You do know the GM alternator upgrade is not plug and play.

The only way to avoid any electrical or bracket changes is to have a local automotive electrical shop turn your alternator up.

I know there are or were vendors that did these up grades on the stock case but they are not cheap.

Never having the need I never really did any research.
