Thumbs down air/fuel mix problem

first off i have a stock 95 4runner 4wd 3.0 a/t

about a month a go my friend and i were changing the oil when a cigar my friend put on the air box managed to burn through the the protective wrap that covers the wires going to the MAF. at first we didnt notice it so when i went to start the car nothing happend. after taking 20 min to find out what was wrong i noticed that thery were exposed. after cutting and installing wire connectors i started it up and started noticing a huge loss of power from idle to 3000 rpms and also a very rich smell of gas from the exhaust. after finding out that the two wires were the power and the ground to the IAT i bought a new MAF and installed it. needless to say that didnt work. now im thinking it might be the cpu itself but i thought id check with everyone here first before i buy a new cpu. any bit of advice is greatly appreciated
