aftermarket UCA's and poly bushings... ARGHH!!

Ok, well.. I bought some poly bushings for my truck for some maintenance but ended up going for a different route and now have some aftermarket upper control arms that provide some lift. This is for a 94 toyota 2WD pickup btw!

Problem is, these don't come with the metal outer sleeves, and after researching it quite a bit.. Seems its rather difficult, or impossible to remove them without ruining the sleeve. I need these for my UCA's.. So... What do I do?! Cut apart my stock upper control arms carefully to remove the outer sleeves? Or does someone know a special place that sells these?! Thanks!!

By the way... Are the bushings between a 4wd and 2wd different? Just looked up on energy suspension's website and i have a front control arm bushing kit for a 4wd; not a 2wd like I was supposed to have ordered.

If I'm reading correctly you have new upper control arms that you want to install poly bushings in, but you need the sleeves from the old stock upper control arms? Also you have 4wd bushings vs 2wd bushings.

If you want the sleeves out of the old upper control arms your best bet is to press the bushings out or take them somewhere and have it done. Once pressed out have them pressed into your new arms. Once that is done just burn the old rubber out of the bushings and insert your new poly bushings. Or you could try and find new poly bushings in the sleeve, but you will still need to have them pressed in.

Also sounds like you will need the 2wd version of those bushings as the part numbers for the 4wd are different
2wd = pt # 8.3106
4wd = pt # 8.3108

Who ever made the aftermarket UCA should provide the bushings for it. If they don't you may have to look hard for some that fit or custom make some. I've been lucky with my Superlift UCAs because they still had bushings every time I've needed them. If they stop stocking them on me I will probably have some machined out of delrin and try that. If its just the metal sleaves you need those can be machined too.

Agreed , whom ever is making the upper control arms really should be furnishing bushing for them.

Second the Delrin, definitely would be the best way to go. Act like a bearing, and get rid of alot of bind. I used Delrin in the lower front control arms and rear lower control arms in my mustang and had really good results.

What brand arms did you buy?

the arms are either old camburg, or doestech arms.. No bushings came with these as I bought them used. Though they look brand new. I wanted to install the poly bushings into these new aftermarket UCA's
