I recently bought a 1995 Toyota 4Runner SR5 loaded with the sun-roof and all the goodies, the only problem was the stereo equipment was stock, and living in nothern PA the i was waiting for the weather to clear up, and it did. I had a Pioneer DEH-P3500 from my old car and thought that would work out for me. I found an online guide on how to take apart the dash and get to the stock reciever. That was the easy part, then i noticed the single plug that would not fit my wiring connector with 4 different plugs. It's a Scosche TA021, but on the website i could not find the specs on it, i then took my amplifier out, and noticed that two of my plugs on my harness. What i'm trying to figure out is if i can remove the amplifier since my New deck already puts out 50 wats to each of four speakers. My pioneer came with a connector that goes to the deck and to my old car, and i no longer have the car. This just turned into a mess and i have no idea how to make this better being as this is the 1st project on any vehichle i've tried to tackle on my own. Any Ideas

1st- stop thinking too much and say what your deck offers and what the truck has.... and is there an aftermarket harness to wire your deck to the truck?

if your talking about the little silver box thingy, i installed my new deck and took it out. easy install if you have a wiring harness

theres a reason for the stock amp...
without it the rear speakers are overridden by the fronts and the audio comes out sounding like poo...

this may help... and bookmark it because its valid for ANY toyota between the dates listed...
it is also the reason that we were able to splice a Scion 6 disc changer into my buddy's stock yukon's original wiring harness...

Do yourself a favor and just rewire the whole system eliminating the stock harness and amp really very easy if you know anything about wiring.

The built-in rear amps on mine were toast.

Bypass them and go straight to the speakers, it sounds fine.

I've gotten compliments on my setup, and I'm pretty sure my head unit puts out 50 W per speaker too.

I pulled out my amp when I did my 2nd gen deck, and the rears still didn't work. Turns out the rear speakers go through their own little digital decoder or something, built into the speaker boxes themselves.

They were easy to bypass. You must remove each box, open it and rewire accordingly.

Just to throw this out there, there are five wires running into the small amp; the red and black are the wires carrying the signal..
