advice on heater core

hey.. i've been putting off doing my heater core in my 1986 toyota pickup 22r for some time, but it got to the point where i was going through a half gallon of antifreeze a day, and no heat for the last 2 months.

i went and bought a heater core from autozone (i know...mistake number one..) and tore my dash apart. finally got to put the new one in, and took it out of the box to realize... the fittings on the reman core are mangled. upon further evaluation i found a hole in the top of it. some reman huh?

so my question is, does anyone think jb weld will hold for the next couple of months until i sell the truck and buy a newer truck? i'm sure i could also go have it braised, but like many of us, money is tight... any advise would be great thanks!

No, don't cob job the truck to sell it. You'll wind up with the next owner throwing the heater core through your window. Fix it properly.

Do a job right or not at all. The "patch it up just enough to sell" mindset is unethical, IMO.

it got to the point that after buying the last heater core in the state of massachusetts, and having my dash torn out of the vehicle i was doing everything i possibly could to just drive the truck again. i didn't end up doing that, i returned the core, ordered a new one to the tune of $180, put my dash back together, so i can do the job again next weekend.
