Adjusting a manual steering box from a 1994 4x2 pick up?

Adjusting a manual steering box from a 1994 4x2 pick up? Any hints on finding the backlash and other settings? Short of spending 125.00 on a shop manual? Thanks for your time.

There is typically an adjustment screw on the top of the box, opposite the sector shaft where the pitman arm connects. Loosen the jam nut, turn in the screw to tighten up the sector shaft bearing and tighten the jam nut. Outside of that, there is likely something worn in the steering linkage. Turn the wheel back and forth and see if you can find the source of the play.
