First off I did search and found only one reference to them here , So here's the question
Anyone every use one on a 22re and if so doe's it make much of a difference? I want to do every thing on this rebuild one time and not have to tear into it after the fact to replace any thing that would be helpful for the power and reliability stand point.

If it matters this will be going on a L.C. Engineering Pro street head and cam set up the block will be bored no more then 30 over , connecting rods will be redone and a brand new not rebuilt crank installed and a engnblder master rebuild kit for the finishing touch. hoping for 140-150 hp.

if the cam is pretty much on time in relation to the crank i dont think it would make much of a difference.(i say this because usually for me its pretty close) but... it would be nice to install the cam to whatever the spec card says.

Practically speaking, the adjustable cam is great for correcting the cam timing if the head is machined. As the head is machined, the cam goes to the retard. Take off 1/8" and the cam will be about 10 degrees retarded. If you want a bump in your low end power band, you can advance the cam a degree or two. Otherwise, don't waste your hard earned $100 for an adjustable gear. Personally, I have taken a chain saw file and cut a new slot in the stock cam gear to solve a retard problem. The gear has 36 teeth so its easy to figure out where to file a new slot on the opposite side of the original locating slot for the dowel pin.

The adjustable cam gear made a huge difference in my truck, it really pulled together all the other mods I did when I rebuilt.
I shaved a large amount off the block and head to raise compression, and this threw my timing outta whack.
The cam gear brought it all back together, and the difference was VERY noticeable.

Not exactly, but have used on a Honda 2.2 liter motor, and it was probably the best bang for the buck. Definitly increased power, also nice that you can shift where your power band is. Just make sure to adjust as specified, I am not sure about the 22re, but many import motors are interference motors, meaning that if the valves are open, the piston can hit them, so adjusting the cam gears too much can be very bad.
