ADD shaft diameter...

Greetings -
I want to clamp my driver-side ADD engaging collar in place, eliminating the vacuum shift mechanism and covering the shift fork/actuator void with a simple plate. The vehicle is a 1992 with ADD and manual hubs. I know I can clamp shift fork shaft, cap vacuum lines, replace with non-ADD axles, etc. but I would rather just clamp the sliding engagement collar in place with some sort of ring collar/clamp. I have some aluminum two-piece bolt-together collars in mind (originally intended as motorcycle fork clamps but available in a good range of sizes). Does any maybe know the diameter of the stationary shaft that the sliding portion moves on? Or have an axle open and would be willing to measure the diameter of the shaft? If I know the shaft diameter I can select a clamp diameter. I don't need or want to open up the diff just yet.
Thanks much; cheers, Joel
