? about changing motor

started taking the 22re motor out out of my 90 pickup. its the first efi i've canged my other was carbed i only have 3 bolts left to take out.2 on the back of the motor at the top and the bottom starter bolt. any tricks to getting at these especially the starter bolt? also i had a fun time getting the wiring harness off.are they supposed to be run up through he intake? i unhooked about 15 plug ins not sure if i will be able to hook them all back up in the right spots was in a hurry and never thought to label them. is there anywhere the harness plugs in that i can unhook and leave on the other motor when i take it out? i'm picking up a 4 runner for the motor and would leave the harness on it if i could instead of spending all that time unhooking it. any help would be great.

On my '90, I just unplugged the harness from the ECU inside the cab (behind passenger side kick panel), and then fed it through the firewall leaving everything attached to the engine. One plug versus the 15 you mention. You have to "massage" the plug through the firewall but it goes.

Good info for next time you do a swap. Change the wiring from the engine once you get it out and on a hook/stand. that way you don't have to fight the lack of space to get it all out.

As for the bolt, Snap-on sells a long extension that does the trick.

yeah i should have known it went to the computer but kinda figured it went up under the dash. i'll leave it on the 4 runner when i take the motor out. would the harness be the same of a 91 4 runner same motor and tranny? if so i'll just leave that one on it plug it into the pickup.

i tired a u-joint on the top tranny bolts and there was just enough of an angle that i couldnt get the ratchet and extension on it. gonna go borrow my old mans ratchet that bends like the u joint socket see if i can get it in there.
