A43D tranny problems and questions
My 94 pickup, ext cab, with A43D tranny and 22RE engine with 350k is finally telling me it's tired and in need of newer parts.
With the transmission cold, the truck will shift into foward gears fine, but will not do so in Reverse. But, after a quick jaunt on the road of a mile or so, the tranny will shift into reverse. Once the tranny cools down, it will no longer shift into Reverse.
Listening to the engine you can hear and actually feel the transmission just barely start to engage into Reverse, but it's as if fluid will just not build up enough in pressure to fully engage.
The transmission has been fully flushed including lines and cooler etc. with a filter change, but no change in the reverse problems.
Ideas?
As the truck has this much mileage and I have no plans to get rid of it, I'm wanting to rebuild this transmission or simply put a rebuilt tranny, new torque converter etc etc. and while at it rebuild the engine as well.
1) Are there any better tranny sources on-line that could be suggested?
2) Would the h/d t/c that comes with the Toyota RV camper with the 22RE and A43D transmission work on my truck or should I stick with what would be considered OEM for the truck?
3) Would there be a better on-line parts supplier for a full transmission overhaul kit?
4) Would there be a better on-line parts supplier for a full engine overhual kit?
Regards
