Hey guys, new here.

First off, thanks for all of the amazing help and information that I lurked for while deciding on what truck to buy. I ended up getting a 1990 4Runner SR5 3VZ 4WD with 89K miles... for $1500. Not bad. Body is in really good shape compared to what I've seen as well.

It needs a few things, namely the #1 solenoid replaced. Pulled a code 62 off of it and when I drove it 90 minutes home I had the telltale symptoms (Extremely sluggish if I pin the throttle from a stoplight, OD off light blinks when it shifts, still launches like a beast when dropped into Low Gear, etc.)

I found information about Transtec as a supplier for the solenoid but it was from 2004 and no one posted a part number. I scrounged their site and this is the closest I could find:

Couldn't find anything that specifically showed the solenoid. I read two hours ago that some one got two solenoids from a Transtec supplier for like $88 but the website the person linked no longer existed and I can't find the company's name in my history anyway.
I know I could always pay at least ~$140 at the dealer but it sounds like I could go cheaper.

From their description it is really hard to tell if that fits the A340H or if it's even made by Transtec but the price lines up with what one of their solenoid kits should cost.

I'd definitely trust Wells over Standard, being that I've never heard of Standard.

I was looking to spend under $150 and if I could get two solenoids or a complete kit to put in while I already have the pan and filter dropped that would be wonderful.

One piece of information that no one has posted anywhere that would be extremely helpful is the official Toyota part number for the solenoid. If anyone has it I would really appreciate it.

Extra info: The transmission was flushed 12,000 miles ago and the fluid is so clean I almost didn't believe it. This truck was well taken care of by its first owner, and the kid who had it after and sold it to me dogged the hell out of it. I will be putting on a trans cooler also because I plan to tow a little with it.

Thanks for the help. I think both of you were right on the mark for what I wanted. I wonder what size I can fit with the stock clutch fan on there. Time to research...

Update:
So here is what I bought

The packaging was all three in a sealed bag, properly coated in Dex ATF like they should be. Part number on the bag matched the item desciption: K97958. This part number appears to be for Rosstra or Dacco. Doesn't say on the package for some reason. They're good quality from what I can tell.

This guy always has these in stock. $72 for all three solenoids, just incredible. They got here in two days. They're a bit smaller than the factory Aisin solenoids but they plugged up just fine. The good news is that even if one shift solenoid goes bad soon, I have a spare factory one that still works!

I cleared the code before I started it and the truck shifts perfectly now. I'm so pleased with it.

Now to get a trans cooler...

New to the forum and I need to replace a solenoid on my 1993 4runner with a 3.0. Are these plug and play? Or what do I have to do to hook these up?

For me it was pretty easy. Removed the front sway bar. Dropped the trans pan. I didn't have to remove the front driveshaft to do this as some manuals say, I was just careful and used a universal joint on my ratchet. After that, it was really easy to access the solenoids, even without removing the filter. I was told to remove it, but mine was pretty much brand new, so there was no point. There is a single bolt holding each one in place (10mm head if I remember) and then they just pop out of place (they're just held in that hole by the rubber o-rings). After that, they will be each be connected by a wire harness. Do them one by one so that you don't mix the wires up. It should be obvious by the mounting brackets which ones go where. After that, change your pan gasket, bolt your pan on, fill it back up with exactly 4.8qts of Dex III and you're good to go!

The whole process took me less than an hour and I did not have to jack up my truck. I did it in a garage to make sure I did not get any dust or foreign particles in the pan or on the solenoids. As always, my number one recommended tool is a headlamp to allow you to work quickly!

Also, my truck runs like new now! Such an amazing difference. My gas mileage also improved because it's in the proper gear now.
