96 3.0 in a 93

ok so my 3.0 took a dump and threw a rod at 265k. i found a good deal on a running 96 3.0.. what are the differences between these engines and what all will i need? obd1 and obd2 issues?? i have heard i will have to do some harness splicing, what exactly needs to be spliced?
