95 SR5 V6 Speed/Odometer Issues
Hello YotaTech, I heard this was the place to learn about these Toyotas. I grew up a Jeep man myself, but got a good deal on one of these and thought I would give it a shot.
Anyways, Im driving a 1995 SR5 V6.
I bought it knowing it had a couple issues:
1. Ticking noise from driver side head cover (I think it's a lifter that needs some attention)
2. It was having issues shifting and would just LUG. I crawled under and found a sensor on the transfer case cut, and just went to pick-n-pull today for a new one. Replaced it and took her for a spin and all seemed well enough.
3. The biggest issue for me, neither the odometer or the speedo works. I bought and installed a new cable and it worked for a SECOND and then nothing. It's mechanical. I have taken the dash out and checked the dash and it works. The cable works. I am worried the issue is in where the cable meets the transfer case. I have never del with tranny issues, and wanted to see if anyone here had any advice on this issue, before I just start taking things apart. They look heavy.
Thanks for the advice in advance, hoping to really love this rig
