I've never seen an entire kit that includes axles, but I bough a group of all 4 ball joints, tie rods, idler, and pitman arm, off ebay and bough CVs, shocks, and sway bar link seperate

do you remember specifics of what company you bought your parts from? I guess the quality of the e- bay parts was acceptable? where did you get the axles from? lastly what was the total cost for your rebuild???

Id say while your in there service the diff with some new seals and gaskets and things...Wheel bearings as well if ya havent thought of that...and rebuild the manual hubs, if you have them. Umm, maybe new bumpstops too...
Oh, Ive never heard of a kit either, just gonna have to source from different places..

I got the kit I mentioned for about $120
CV's were $70 each
Shocks were about $45 each (I did all 4 btw)
yeah bearings and hubs would be a good thought too. I just serviced mine about 3k miles ago, so I didn't bother; they still felt solid, and I skiped tearing the bearings down

kinda what I thought already -- too bad they would probably sell very well on here. Thanks Scuba -- I think I will service all I can while I have everything apart. I'm pushing 200K and the front end is starting to get a little squirley

but it appears that at least the idler arm was replaced in the past in my situation... but my pitman arm was pretty close to separating

I bought the same package from arm-can a couple years ago. Sorry to say they lasted about a year and a half. I am just about to order new tie-rod assemblies from toyotapartssales to replace those. Your time and money is better spent buying OEM from toyotapartssales. I used to be anti-OEM since I once payed over $100 for a u-joint at the local dealer. But since I found a cheap source of OEM parts I will gladly use OEM, otherwise I could not justify the cost to fix up my older truck buying parts at the local dealer.

That was daily driver use, but I do not put too may km on either. My eyeballs popped out when the tire shop said my balljoints and idler were worn when they were switching over my winter tires and they said they could not align my truck.
toyotapartsales:
tie-rod assembly: $85 each = $170 includes adjuster hardware - extra $20?
balljoint lower $45 each = $90
balljoints upper: $50 each = $100
Pitman: do they wear out?
idler: rebuild yourself with bronze or OEM bushings ($10?), better than ebay new.
I would question buying any suspension part from a parts store if they do not put a name on them ie Moog. When you take the OEM balljoint out of the bag, you will know the difference in quality, pre-greased, fit perfectly, locktite stuff on threads, etc. AlthoughToyota balljoints do not have a grease nipple installed, they are meant to be greased from the the rubber nipple on the boot.

Does anyone have an opinion on Raybestos/Spicer ball joint and tie rod end assemblies? They seem pretty proud of their one piece design on their website, but I'm curious if they are as good as they market them to be.
